Working with Carmen is so much more than just getting clothes for my body - it has been transformational. I had gone through some abrupt and painful life changes and after being out of the work world for years was stepping into a fast paced leadership role at a start up. I was climbing into the skinny branches of the tree, and I wasn’t sure I could make it. I’m supposed to hang with the “cool kids” and I felt anything but cool. Carmen took me under her wing and built a wardrobe with me that was an expression of my unique personality - both edgy and polished. For the first time, I felt like my outside was a reflection of my inside and it showed in my confidence level as I took on challenge after challenge at work!  That was just the beginning of working with Carmen. She has inspired my confidence in so many ways over the years. As one example, she taught me to wear red lipstick by taking me down the to makeup counter and giving me a lesson on how to apply it so it lasts (primer, pencil all over, and a good matte lipstick). When I know I need to be my most confident, I put on my “Carmen red” magic happens. Carmen somehow still remembers everything in my closet and selects new pieces for me that continually expand my options. She pulls things for me to try on that I wouldn’t have looked at on my own and they wind up being my favorite looks. She works with alterations to make the perfect changes so an off the rack dress becomes a one-of-a-kind look that perfectly flatters my body. What a joy to work with such a powerfully creative woman who has truly been part of my journey to success. I love you Carmen!

Carmen's ability to grasp my sense of style and raise it a few notches was incredibly evident. We walked through my goals, what I wanted to feel and achieve, and then we went through my current closet to remove items that didn't support those goals. Once we had a closet that only kept those items, she put together outfits, from hairstyle to jewelry and even shoes, so that I could take pictures and remember them later. I didn't realize that my closet contained so many cool pieces! After we had a bit of a style book to look through, Carmen helped me by identifying other items that would slip into my existing wardrobe and enhance it further - a black heel, a straight leg jean, a white tshirt, etc. None of those items needed to be incredibly expensive. Carmen sent me some links of those items too, showing me different options to immediately "add to cart" and start wearing.

I think most of us are overwhelmed by the items we have, and we've forgotten how to be creative in our own closets. Carmen provided a jolt to my attitude that made me care about putting myself together each day. It's about respecting myself and presenting that to me as well as to others. My friends have noticed, and have complimented me on my looks as well as my confidence. We all use experts when we need additional help - and Carmen is absolutely an expert in what she does.
